Two Months Old

Emma is now two months old. She went to the doctor and is now 12 lbs 13 ozs and 24-1/4 inches long. She is doing so many new things: Cooing, smiling, holding her head steady, laughing, and much more. Here is a video of her at two months and some new pictures of her.

Happy Girl!

So serious...

First night in her own bed!

You Have Got to Be Kidding

For those of you who have spoken with me in the past week, most often in tears, you know that I have been at the end of my rope with Emma's nap issues. She will only sleep on me...not in the car, not in the bouncy seat, not in the swing, not in the crib, just on me. She will fall asleep and we will put her down and she immediately wakes up-screaming! I have been working with her this week on putting her in her crib and letting her put herself to sleep...yikes...it has been a rough process with NO success and so I finally let her sleep on me (after 2 hours or so) because those of you who have spent significant time with Emma know that when she doesn't get her beauty sleep...she gets ugly and loud. SOOO...this morning we have her 2 month appointment and I was rushing to get a shower and get her a bath and get out the door. I was changing my clothes and put her down on my bed and turned around and she is SOUND ASLEEP. Deep enough asleep that the flash of the camera didn't even cause her to stir. I just stood there realizing she is so much like me-she will do it when she wants and no amount of "training" from me will break her. I am in for a rough road ahead :)! So here is a sweet picture of her and ducky sound asleep before I had to get her in the car seat for the appointment.

Cooing

Here is a short clip of Emma smiling and cooing. Of course Mike and I are making fools of ourselves trying to get her to do so. Make sure your volume is up so you can hear the noises she is making.

New Pictures

Here are some new pictures of Emma. I have been consumed for the last week with the situation with Sam but wanted to get these pictures up before they are too far out of date. She is changing so quickly and growing so fast. She has found her tongue and her fists and plays with them all of the time. She is also laughing out loud and cooing more and more. She loves tummy time and is able to support herself with her legs and holds her head up very well. Mike and I are so in love with her and so thankful for her health and growth.

She just stares at our faces and interacts with us.

Sweet little girl!

Look how high she can hold her head!

I just love this! She makes this face when we let her stand on our laps and she looks around. Mike calls her Turtle because she sticks her neck way out and scrunches up her forhead. We are trying to capture it on video to share.

Out of Grandma's Mouth

Grandma effectively summed up life with Emma. Aunt Janet and mom were talking about Emma's screaming and mom asked Grandma to tell Aunt Janet about Emma's crying. Grandma said that Emma didn't cry much while she was there. Mom stared at her puzzled (Emma did plenty of crying while we were there). Just then Grandma asked "But who was that baby that screamed all the time?" (Grandma gets confused at times.) That would be Emma! I have just laughed and laughed about that response. Emma doesn't cry-just screams.

Get Better Sam!

As you may already know, Sam is in the hospital again for the second time this week. I won't go into details here, but please be praying for Sam, Abby, Andrew, the doctors and the rest of the family. They are still running tests to figure out the source of his dehydration, drowsiness, lack of appetite, etc.

Please pray for wisdom, peace, guidance and comfort.

St. Louis

Playtime with Emma

Poppa and Emma

Emma meeting Great Grandma

Emma and I decided on Saturday afternoon to drive to St. Louis on Sunday and surprise Poppa. (Yes-I know you think I am crazy to take my screaming 6 week old by myself.) Emma did great on the drive. We stopped twice for her to eat and she was excellent in the car. Mike is missing her like crazy, but Poppa and Grammy and Great-Grandma are loving having her here. I am enjoying being loved on and having help with Emma Kate. I did not tell Dad I was coming and called him from the driveway to come get Emma out of the car. He came outside with tears streaming down his face. It honestly was one of the greatest shows of emotion I have ever seen from my dad-and you know how emotional he is. I will post an update later in the week. Tonight we will watch the Steelers with Poppa and eat lots of Grammy's delicious food!

Halloween

I had babysat all day for Mariela (2 yrs old) along with Emma and made food for the party...can you tell I am tired?!
The Saxbys, Barbers and Woods

Finally asleep...I did have a few quiet moments that evening.

Our little pumpkin!

For Emma Kate's first Halloween, we went over to the Saxby's. Mike went trick-or-treating with the boys and Emma and I handed out candy with Aunt Amy. We did not have the resources-emotionally, physically, or creatively-to dress her up, so she wore a pumpkin hat. She was a major fuss bucket. The best part of the evening was playing games with William after it got dark outside. We are looking forward to Halloween next year when we can dress Emma up. This was also the first set of pictures I have been in for a while...not a fun time viewing those so I hit delete on a bunch and will start watching what I am eating now and fixing my hair...ugh!
